When I was in elementary
school, my dream was to have an American style bed.
¨ç I asked my parents for such a bed, and to my delight,
they bought me one for my birthday. ¨è I also wanted
a guitar, but I did not get one. ¨é The bed was a black
bunk bed with two levels. ¨ê I slept on the lower level
and used the upper level for playing. ¨ë I kept all
my toys on the upper level. |

Mr.
Thomas was the worst teacher I ever had. ¨ç He taught
general science in tenth grade. ¨è The reason he was
so had was that he tried to embarrass students. ¨é He
would call on someone to answer even when he knew that
person didn't know the answer to the question. ¨ê Then,
he would tease the person and say things like "you're
stupid," or "that was the easiest question
I have." ¨ë I think Mr. Thomas is the reason I'm
now a physics major. |

Most
people probably spend more time thinking about weather
than about climate. ¨ç Although weather and climate
are closely related, climate is different from weather.
¨è Weather refers to the temperature and amount of rain,
wind, sun, and snow during a specific time. ¨é On the
other hand, climate refers to the typical weather patterns
of an area over many years. ¨ê For these reasons, it
is important to understand how climate has shaped our
behaviors. ¨ë In short, climate is a long view of weather. |
